Mary,
I was saddened to hear of John's passing. When you were sending out updates of his condition during his final days and weeks, I was in China. I was still there when you sent the email informing family and friends of his passing. I can't imagine how hard it must have been to write that email - reading it made me feel, somehow, even further away from home. I thought of you, and the number of times over the years you told me about John's health problems - something you bore with such courage and grace that I knew John would always be in good hands.
I do regret that I did not take the time to get to know John better. I was delighted to learn so much about him from his obituary. I love the sense of adventure that he displayed throughout his life and I am sure he would have made a great friend.
My thoughts are with you.
Phil.

Mary, we are very saddened about John’s passing. In the short time we knew John, we knew he was a wonderful new friend and we are so grateful for having known him. We loved his enthusiasm for life, the twinkle in his eyes and his sense of fun. He was a dear and special person and we will miss John’s presence in Kingsport.
Wish we could be there for John’s Celebration of Life. We will take a moment today to remember John and to send the warmest of hugs to you Mary. We hope you will find healing comfort in being with friends and family today and in all the days ahead.
Love, Charlene and Rodney.
