Obituary of Gary Daniel Freeman Kilpatrick

Master of the trade of carpentry, husband, father, brother, and friend Gary Daniel Freeman Kilpatrick passed away peacefully in the palliative care unit of the Saint John Regional Hospital at 6:42 AM on Friday, August 23, 2019 surrounded by his family.

Gary was happiest with his family: wife Linda building their dream home on Knapp Lake in the Kingston Peninsula. Hunting and fishing with his son Daniel (Elaine, Abigail, Misty). Planning and cooking with his daughter Theresa (François, Justin, Madelaine, Lillianne) and on adventures camping with his youngest Jessica (Jason, Jovia, Jordan).

Gary meant so much to so many. His early years were spent in Morin Heights, Quebec where he began to master the trade of carpentry from his father Denzil (Vivian) and alongside his three brothers (Darrell, Rodney, d. Stephen).  He spent time on the ski slopes serving as a ski patrol, as a volunteer firefighter and cub & scout leader. He met the love of his life Linda in 1964 and after their marriage they begin their life in the Bahamas. Gary taught his children to do what they love -  as he did - leaving a legacy of beautiful work behind in Saint John and New Brunswick through his company Black River Woodworking.

Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home (634-7425). Please join us to celebrate Gary’s life at the Kingston Parish Hall on Wednesday, August 28 at 11 AM. Please pay tribute to Gary by wearing your favorite job site gear whether it’s your toolbelt, plaid shirt or hardhat. As we all know, Gary was larger than life – and the family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, remembrances be made to the Gary Kilpatrick Palliative Care Fund for a 7 foot bed to be placed on that unit in his honour. https://thegive.ca/memorial-donations/ Online condolences may be placed at www.BrenansFH.com
