Obituary of Rick Lester
It is with great sorrow that the family of Rick Lester, loving husband of Lynne(Howell) Lester, announce his passing on Friday, March 6, 2020 at the Church of St. John and St. Stephen Nursing Home. Born in Saint John on September 26, 1944, he was a son of the late Elmer and Elsie (Melanson) Lester.
Rick was an accomplished draftsman, designing modular homes and would even be able to hand draw accurate house plans for clients. He also loved rock and roll music and was a part of various bands such as Rick and the Impalas, Rusty Nails, Group Therapy as well as others playing at locations around the city. Most of all Rick loved spending times with his family especially his cherished grandchildren who lovingly knew him as “Papa Rick”. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Rick will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Lynne; sons, Todd and Shawn both of Saint John; as well as Beverly Mosher (Adam) of Grand-Bay Westfield, Tricia Beaudet (Michael) of Quispamsis, Christine Collins (Josh) of Kamloops, BC, and Jonathan Blackwood (Michelle) of Victoria, BC; brother, Eddie Lester (Dianne) of Saint John; sisters, Joan Butler of Saint John and Lorraine Boer (Arnie) of Fredericton; grandchildren, Ella, Paige, Marisa, Zach, Nevaeh, Journey, Quinn and Harper; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Rick was predeceased by his special brother-in-law, Jim Butler.
Rick’s family would like to thank the staff of the Church of St. John and St. Stephen Nursing Home for all the care and compassion shown to Rick and his family during his time there. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
