Obituary of Mae Yvonne Lee

 

It is with great sadness that the family of Yvonne Lee announces her passing which occurred on Wednesday, June 24 at Carleton Kirk Lodge. Born in Shemogue, NB, on September 21, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Wilfred and Mae (Savoy) Duguay and wife of the late Arthur Lee.

 

Yvonne was always involved in many community efforts to help children with food, clothing, support, and love. She was a foster parent for many years and began her career with the Salvation Army Family to help provide to low-income families. Yvonne then went on to work for the city of Saint John as Director of the South End Community Centre for 18 years before retiring due to illness. She received numerous awards including The Paul Harris fellowship award for community improvement.

 

Yvonne is survived by her son, Stephen Lee (Maureen); daughter, Brenda Lee; brother, Bruce Duguay (Sally); sister Wanda Bent (Harold); grandchildren Jennifer Ash (Scott), Megan Lee (Chris), Kaitlin McPherson (Jimmy), Josh Lee (Sheena), Jenna Dumas (David Price); great-grandchildren, Carson and Elliott Setter, Jacob and Hannah Lee, Jimmy and Paisley McPherson, Preston Lee and Charlotte Lee; her friends close to her heart, Andre Dumas, Michelle Blizzard, Jeannette Dobbin, Donna Goodeill, Leslie Anne Whittaker and Orin Northrup; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and cherished brother and sister-in-laws. In addition to her parents and husband, Yvonne was predeceased by her daughter, Judy Lee. 

 

The family would like to thank their Harbour Station family for all their love and support during her illness.

 

Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John (634-7425). A private family funeral service will take place from the Brenan’s Bay View Chapel, interment will take place in Lepreau Cemetery. Those unable to attend are welcome to watch Yvonne’s service via Livestream starting at 2:00 PM on Monday, June 29.
