Obituary of Claude Joseph Comeau

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Claude Joseph Comeau, who passed away surrounded by family, on Friday, September 11th, 2020 at the Oromocto Public Hospital.

Claude was born in Bathurst, NB on November 15, 1947 to the late Martial and Leozé (Arsenault) and was the loving husband of 34 years to his wife, Mary Lou Comeau (O'Neill).

Claude worked as a salesman for Gar Meltzer Sales for over 20 years and bought the company in 1991 (G. M. Sales Ltd.). He travelled throughout the Atlantic Region for his job and could sell just about anything.

Claude's biggest love was for his family. He was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather.  He is survived by his wife Mary Lou, three children; Jason (Tracy), Jonathon (Mandy), and Jenna (Logan Erskine), five grandchildren; Mark, Larissa, Jasmine, Sarah Jane and Miles, as well as his siblings Denise Wilkins (Dennis) and Suzanne Frenette (Yvon). He is also fondly remembered by his brother and sister in laws; Larry O’Neill (Ann-Marie), Ellen Grant (David), Kevin O’Neill (Aaron), Pat O’Neill, Maureen O’Neill (Anne), Catherine Curwin (Tom), Michael O’Neill (Mary), Paul O’Neill (Tina), Brian O’Neill and Carl Sabean, as well as many nieces and nephews, and family pets; Kolbi and Mia.

Claude will forever be remembered as a fun loving and charismatic man. He had a larger than life personality and enjoyed having fun and making others laugh through teasing and practical jokes. He enjoyed many wonderful memories camping with his family and friends, especially at Oceanview, Shediac. Playing cards was also a big part of Claude's life. He loved playing poker, crib and 45's with family and friends.

His family would like to take this time to thank the nurses, doctors and staff of the med 1 unit at the Oromocto Public Hospital for the care and compassion shown to both Claude and family. They went above and beyond for him. We would also like to thank Senior Watch caregivers, Claude’s neighbours, Tom and Rose Ridley, and his crib partner Tom Curwin.
