Obituary of Theresia Elize H. M. Hoellwarth

It is with heartfelt sadness that the family of Theresia “Thea” E. H. M. Hoellwarth announces her passing on February 5, 2021 with her loving family by her side.

Thea was born in Schagen, Holland, on July 20, 1929. She immigrated to Montreal in 1954 where she met the love of her life Gunter. They married in 1956 and raised 3 wonderful children and moved to Saint John in 1973.

She was a longtime volunteer with Girl Guides in Montreal and later with Red Cross and Ridgewood Veteran’s Wing for many years. She enjoyed many trips to Europe and New Zealand and their annual trips to Florida for many years. She had much joy seeing and helping with the growth of her grandchildren who enriched her life greatly.

Survived by her husband of 64 years Gunter, and daughters Ingrid (Graham) Rossiter and Nora (Kevin) Boudreau. Daughter in law Stephanie and grandchildren Jessica, Joshua, Emilee, and Sarah. Sister Leonie Bartles in Holland and brother Henry VanLeuven of Montreal. Predeceased by son Peter and brother Jack VanLeuven.

Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John, NB. Visitation will occur on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 from 6 – 8 PM and Thursday, February 11, 2021 from 2 – 4 PM. Guests must register to attend visitation by calling 506-634-7425 and reserving a time. A private Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, February 12, 2021 at 12 Noon. A livestream of the service will be available on Thea’s online obituary beginning at that time.
