Obituary of Donald Roderick MacLeod

The death of Donald Roderick MacLeod, of 365 Balmoral Crescent, Saint John West, occurred peacefully on Saturday, January 29, 2005 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on January 20, 1917 in Montreal, Quebec, he was the son of the late Donald and Christy MacLeod. Mr. MacLeod was employed with Irving Equipment for 27 years, retiring at the age of 75, as Technical Manager. Previously he had been employed with Rayner Construction and Modern Construction in Moncton. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and was a long standing member of St. Columba Presbyterian Church. He was a very generous man who will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Martha Jean (Kercher), one daughter, Christy E. Belyea of Bayswater, one son, Donald W. McLeod (Shelley) of Quispamsis, twin sisters, Katherine MacLennan of Fredericton and Margaret Mode of Vankleek Hill, ON, brother-in-law, Dr. Jack McMartin of Montreal, four grandchildren, Rod Belyea (Lori), Andrew Belyea (Patricia), Emily McLeod and Patrick McLeod, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Hilda McMartin and Alexandra Wilson and three brothers-in-law, Dr. Ian MacLennan, Sydney Mode and Arthur Wilson. By request there will be no visiting at the funeral home. A memorial service will be held at St. Columba Presbyterian Church, Manawagonish Road, Saint John West on Friday, February 4, 2005 at 2:00 PM. A private family interment will take place at a later time. Remembrances to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of the donors' choice would be appreciated.
