Obituary of William Kaine

The death of William (Bill) Kaine, husband of Joan (Saunders) Kaine, occurred on March 21, 2003 at his residence. Born in England, he was the son of the late Randolph and Adah (Skinner) Kaine. Bill moved to Niagara Falls as a boy, where he grew up. He joined the Airforce in 1964 and graduated from R.M.C in 1979. He retired in 1986 to join the Frigate Program in Saint John, then moved to Ottawa where he was associated with the Aero Space Program, returning to Saint John in 1995. Bill loved sports, especially hockey, and he coached minor hockey for many years. He also volunteered for 'Read Saint John'. Bill was a Master Mason for Carleton Union Lodge #8 F & AM. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Adam (Beverely) of Edmonton, AB, William of Amsterdam, Holland, one daughter, Shelley Cridland (Bill) of Moose Jaw, Sask., two granddaughters, Amelia and Rachel Kaine of Edmonton, AB, seven step-grandsons, Matt Whitney, Craig, Tim, Ian, Scott, Zachery, and Christopher Lingley, and one step-granddaughter, Cassie Lingley. He is also survived by nine brothers, Leo Patterson (Sue), Randy Kaine (Vera), Kevin Kaine (Pam), Michael Kaine (Cathy), Tom Kaine (Toni), James Kaine, Ronald Kaine, Walter Kaine (Betty), and Tommy Patterson (Karen), seven sisters, Linda Burneau (Al), Shirley Fortin (Richard), Janice Baker (Denis), Eileen Heard (Charlie), Barb Kaine, Debbie Heissman (Floyd), and Peggy Kaine, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, all of Niagara Falls, Ontario. He was predeceased by a brother, Gary Patterson, and sisters, Claire Vallee and Florence Willick. Resting at Brenan's Bayview Select Community Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John, (506) 634-7425, with visitation on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2003 at 1:00 PM at Bayview Chapel. Interment will take place at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery at a later date. By request, in lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Extra Mural Program or to Hospice of Saint John Inc.
