Obituary of Wallace Howard Short

The death of Wallace 'Wally' Howard Short, husband of Linda (Clarke) Short, occurred on March 18, 2005, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John he was the son of the late Charles Vernon and Cora (Appleby) Short. Wally worked at ABC Sporting Goods Store on Germain Street during the 1960's with his best friend Mike Murray. During that time he was very involved in helping children play baseball in the South End Little League acting as president for 2 years. Wally went on to become a fixture at CFBC (C-98) Radio, where he worked in Sales for 30 years. As Sales Manager, he made many friends who knew him as a fair, amiable person. After retirement Wally was active in the K-40 Club. Wally will be dearly missed by his family and friends throughout the city, including his old 'cronies' from CFBC, who he always made an effort to keep in touch with. Besides his wife he is survived by his son Barry C. Short and his wife Heather of Saint John, his daughter Barbara and her husband Mike Asselin of Arnprior, ON, his brothers Reg Short and his wife Bea of Doaktown, NB, Vernon Short and his wife Ruth of Amherst, NS, his sister Barbara and her husband Richard Routledge of Doaktown, NB, his grandchildren Casey and Jamie and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Following cremation visiting will be held at Brenan's Bay View Select Community Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road (634-7424), on Sunday from 7-9 pm and Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2005, at 11:00 am, from Bay View Chapel. Interment will take place at the Central Hampstead Baptist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers remembrances made to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
