Obituary of Terrance Norman McSorley

After a courageous battle with a terminal illness the passing of Terrance Norman McSorley of Saint John West, husband of Geraldine (Vienneau) McSorley, occurred peacefully on Saturday, May 14, 2005, surrounded by his family, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, he was the son of the late Norman and Anne (McNulty) McSorley. Terrance began his career as the Service Manager at Purdy's for many years and then went on to manage Universal Sales and Auto Repair Center for several years and most recently moving onto Gilco Bearings, where he retired in 2004. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Parish, an active and longtime member of the Queen of Peace Prayer Group (1974-present), the Cursillo Movement and Marriage Encounter. Terry's passion was serving God through his family, friends and neighbours. They would say his gift was serving anyone in need. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Tony (Teresa) of Calgary, AB and Jeffrey (Diane) of Saint John, two daughters, Lorraine McSorley-Richard (Donald) of Saint John and Nancy London (Tony) of Hampton, five sisters, Dawn Savoie (Terry), Carole May (Jim), Linda Thomas (Bill), Brenda Morais and Cathy Doucet, all of Saint John, 11 grandchildren, Nathaniel, Rochelle, Marcus, Breanne, Erin, Lucas, Nicolas, Brittany, Jacob, Matthew and Emma, several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Norma and Arlene. Resting at Brenan's Bay View Select Community Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John West (634-7425), with visiting on Sunday and Monday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, Milford Road, Saint John West on Tuesday, May 17, 2005 at 10:00 AM. Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery. Remembrances to the Divine Mercy Catholic School or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
