Obituary of James Albert Fox

The death of James Albert (Jim) "Foxy" Fox, of Centennial Drive, husband of Joan (Gallant) Fox, occurred on Friday, May 27, 2005 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Fairville, NB, he was a son of the late George and Inez (Nason) Fox. Jim had served with the Royal Canadian Air Force, 440 Squadron from 1954 to 1957 and stationed at Bagotville, PQ. He was employed as an electrician with the School Board until his retirement in 1991. Jim was honoured by the Westfield Golf and Country Club in 1996 with a lifetime membership and the wall of fame. He enjoyed playing golf, billiards, card games, computers, music-Jazz, reading and crossword puzzles. He enjoyed organizing a variety of projects, including golf events, billiard leagues, golf pools, card tournaments, he performed in a charitable variety show organized by the Bnai Brith Society in Hamilton, Ontario in September 1952 at the Palace Theatre in Hamilton. Jim was referred to as a certified golf nut by Ralph Costello in his book The First Fifty Years and mentioned in Peter Maguire's book the History of Riverside Golf and Country Club. His favorite quote was "There is nothing in this world big enough to worry me" by Dale Carnegie. Besides his wife he is survived by four brothers: Wes (Betty), Gary (Roz), Steve, Andy (Rossann), four step children, Debbie, Harold, Cheryl and Cindy, cousins, nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by three brothers: Georgie, Herkie and Bergan, one sister Joan. Resting at Brenan's Bay View Select Community Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John, NB, (506-634-7425) with visiting on Monday, May 30, 2005 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. By request there will be no funeral service. Remembrances may be made to the NB Lung Association, Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of NB.
