Obituary of R. Malcolm Kingston

Kingston, Malcolm (Mac)- Following a period of failing health, Wednesday, June 15, 2005 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. The son of the late Alexa (Carter) and Harry Kingston. Survived by his devoted wife of fifty years, Lois (Winchester), his two sons, Gregory (Jayne), Stephen (Anne) and very much loved granddaughters, Emily and Olivia, a grandson Chris and a granddaughter, Sarah. Mac is survived by two brothers, Kenneth (Connie) and Walter (Marjorie), four sisters, Jean Titus (Ray), Elsie Kingston, Nancy Evans (Leon) and Cynthia McFarlane (Norman). Predeceased by his parents, two brothers, John and Reginald Kingston, two sisters, Helen Turner and Phyllis Kane. He is survived by sister-in-law, Faith Kingston, brothers-in-law, Murray Winchester, Dawson (June) Winchester, Wilfred Turner and Raymond Kane and many nieces and nephews. He was a life long resident of Saint John and employed by the C.P.R. for many years in the Superintendents office, retiring in March 1989. He was a member of Saint Luke's Anglican church, served on the Vestry, member of the choir and former member of the married couples club. Mac was an avid sports fan and in his youth very active in sports. He was a member of the Saint John Jack's Atlantics Basketball Team when they won the Eastern Canadian Championship in 1950-51. He was the second baseman for the Saint John Lancaster Senior Baseball All Star Team in 1954. He was a graduate of Saint John High School and was active in various sports teams. Lois and Mac enjoyed their summer home in Jemseg. He enjoyed gardening and sharing his vegetables with his family and friends. Mac had many friends who will miss his sense of humor and his caring manner. Resting at Brenan's Bay View Select Community Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John (634-7425), with visiting on Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held at St. Luke's Anglican Church, Main Street, on Friday, June 17, 2005 at 11:00 AM. Interment in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery, followed by a reception in the Church Hall. Remembrances to St. Luke's Anglican Church or the charity of the donors' choice would be appreciated. The family wish to extend their appreciation to Doctors and Nurses of 5A North and C.C.U. of the Saint John Regional Hospital for their kindness to Mac during his illness.
