Obituary of Gordon Sewell

With great sadness the family of Gordon Sewell, husband of the late Hazel (Avery) Sewell, announce his passing on Friday, November 4, 2005 at the Ridgewood Veterans Wing. Born in Newcastle-on-Tyne, England on March 31, 1923 the son of the late George Gordon and Ruth (Brooks) Sewell, Gordon was a veteran of World War II having served in both the British and Canadian Armed Services and later worked in security at Point Lapreau; he enjoyed gardening, especially flowers, classical music and painting. Survived by two sons, Michael of Grand Bay-Westfield, NB and Robert (Sandra Dickison) of Fort McMurray, AB; four daughters, Elizabeth Sewell of Saint John, Deborah (Mark) Kelly of Nerepis, NB, Carol Sewell (Ron Saunders) of Saint John and Barbara Sewell of Saint John; nine grandchildren, Ian Knox, Geoffrey Sewell, Brian Kelly, Michael Kelly, Cameron Kelly, Karyssa Sewell, David Sewell-Saunders, Blake Saunders and Hailey Saunders, and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife, parents and two sisters, Ruth and Lillian; Gordon was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Resting at Bay View Select Community Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John (506) 634-7425 with visiting on Sunday and Monday 2-4 and 7-9 pm with a Tribute to a Veteran Service on Monday at 7pm. Funeral Service will be held from Bay View Chapel on Tuesday, November 8, 2005 at 11 am followed by cremation. Remembrances may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick, the Kidney Foundation of Canada, the Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity of the donor's choice.
