Obituary of Marie Celeste O'Neill

O'NEILL, MARIE CELESTE ? The death of Marie Celeste "Sal" O'Neill of Carleton Kirk Lodge, Saint John, wife of the late James A. "Shan" O'Neill, occurred on December 15, 2005 at the Saint John Regional Hospital at the age of 93. Born in Amherst, NS, on October 11, 1912, she was a daughter of the late, Timothy and Lucy (LeBlanc) Lombard. Celeste graduated from St. Vincent's High School in 1930 and Mount Carmel Academy in 1931. She was employed as a Branch Secretary for Dominion Automobile Association for many years until her retirement. Celeste was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish and was well known for knitting mittens and hats for the children at St. Patrick's School. Survived by her son; David O'Neill (Terri Landry) of Saint John, her daughter; Rita Brooks (Fred) of Saint John, seven grandchildren; Sean O'Neill (Lisa) of Richmond, BC, Patrick O'Neill (Tracy) of Saint John, Dan O'Neill of Quebec, Tracey Brooks (Chris Hamilton) of Saint John, Tammy Klein (Royce) of Australia, Michael Brooks (Rachel St. Pierre) of Quispamsis and Matthew Brooks (Michelle Stephen) of Calgary, three great-grandchildren: Kristin Brooks (Chris Dempsey) of Saint John, Logan and Ella Brooks of Calgary, one great-great grandchild, Kayden Brooks-Dempsey of Saint John and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers; David and Leo Lombard, two sisters; Rita McCullough and Theresa Gillis and two grandsons; John and Timmy Brooks. Resting at Brenan's Bay View Select Community Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John (506-634-7425) with visiting on Sunday from 2 ? 4 and 7 ? 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, on Monday, December 19, 2005 at 12:00 PM. Interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
