Obituary of Raymond Claude Graves

GRAVES, Raymond Claude ? The death of Raymond Graves of Saint John, NB, husband of the late Cora Adelia (Urquhart), occurred on Sunday, January 15, 2006 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John a son of the late Willard and Maisie (Fenerty) Graves. Raymond believed in life long learning ? early advancing his carpentry skills with courses in how to read blue-prints and later on, after years of study, becoming a member of the Appraisal Institute of Canada. He loved his work in Veterans Land Administration with a passion. He also had been a member of various boards, committees, RCL # 69 and Calvary Temple. His passions in later life included his workshop, garden, fishing and cooking. He will be greatly missed by his three daughters "Oh, our papa, you are so wonderful": Irene (Robert) Elliott of Toronto, ON, Robin Graves of Saint John and Jewel (Jon LeHeup) Graves of Toronto; his beloved seven grandchildren: Anthony Finlay, Shelley (Rob) Scott, Thumper (Wendi Acker) McDonald, Corey Graves, Vanessa (Jason Ogden) Graves, Andrew (Ayako Shinkawa) Elliott and Lynn (John) Lord; four darling great-grandchildren: Robert and Allie Scott and Liam and Alexandria Lord; brother, Murray (Marjorie) Graves; sisters, Marjorie Graves, Vella (George) Bower, Barbara Watts, Ruth Orsetti and Nancy (Don) Allen; brothers-in-law, Ira Urquhart, Murray (Evelyn) Urquhart, Clarence (Frances) Urquhart; sister-in-law, Evelyn Urquhart; many nieces and nephews. He enjoyed many friendships during his lifetime, especially three close friends, Fred and Alice Desroche, his neighbours and Al Robichaud. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Cora, his sweetheart and soul-mate; his beautiful daughter, Mary Finlay; brothers, Stanley and Parker and sisters, Mildred and Catherine. Resting at Brenan's Bay View Select Community Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Rd., Saint John (506) 634-7425 with visiting on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Service will be held from Calvary Temple, Sydney St, Saint John on Wednesday, January 18, 2006 at 2 pm with interment following in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
