Obituary of James A. Alston

ALSTON, JAMES A.- The death of James A. Alston of Carleton-Kirk Lodge, Saint John West, husband of Muriel I. (Downey) Alston, occurred on Friday, January 20, 2006 at his residence. Born in Saint John, he was the son of the late George and Lucy (Dibblee) Alston. Mr. Alston was employed with the CPR and the Water Department of the City of Saint John for many years, before his retirement. For many years James and Muriel were members of the Bows and Belles Square Dancing Group. He loved spending his summers at Harding's Point Trailer Park and formerly at Sunrise Shores, Perry, Maine. Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Barbara Prosser of Moncton, one sister, Marjorie Crawford of Saint John, sister-in-law, Thelma Alston of Saint John, three grandchildren, James Prosser (Kim) of New Hampshire, Kathy Prosser and Shawn Prosser (Linda) both of Moncton, two great grandchildren, Janelle and Kyle of New Hampshire, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Harold and George and sisters, Mary Blizzard and Kathleen Alston. Memorial Service will be held at Brenan's Bay View Select Community Funeral Home Chapel, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John West (634-7425), on Monday, January 23, 2006 at 1:00 PM. Interment in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. Remembrances to the Alzheimer's Society of Saint John or the charity of the donors' choice would be appreciated.
