Obituary of Roger Lowell Thomas Matthews

The unexpected death of Roger Lowell Thomas Matthews occurred on Thursday, September 4, 2003 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on August 30th, 1943, he was the son of the late Lowell and Olive (Keefe) Matthews of Prince Edward Island. Roger is survived and sadly missed by his former wife Carolyn (MacArthur) Matthews, son Shane (Kim) Matthews of Fredericton, N.B., son Justin Matthews of Edmonton, Alberta, sister Brenda (George) Henderson of Freeland, P.E.I., sister Judy (Gary) Hutt of Northport, P.E.I., grandchildren Victoria and Colin Matthews of Fredericton, N.B., and several nieces and nephews. Roger will rest peacefully on the Black Banks of Prince Edward Island, where he will watch the sun rise and set at the location of his childhood homestead. Rest easy, Dad . . . Visitation will be at Brenan's Bay View Select Community Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John, N.B. (506-634-7425) on Sunday, September 7th from 2-4 p.m., followed by a private family funeral service. The family would appreciate remembrances made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or the Canadian National Institute for the Blind.
