Obituary of Betty Louise Deakin

DEAKIN, Betty Louise ? The death of Betty Deakin of Grand Bay-Westfield, NB, occurred at Kennebec Manor, Saint John on Saturday, January 28, 2006. Born in 1916 at St. Stephen, NB, Betty was the last surviving member of the family of the late Oscar F. and Ethel M. (Good) Deakin. Prior to retirement, Betty worked at Saint John Milling for more than thirty years. A member of the Westfield Golf and Country Club, Betty enjoyed golf and travel with her sisters Miggy and Shot. She is survived by her sister-in-law Dorothy Deakin, Fredericton, nieces and nephews Gordon Gregory (Carol), Fredericton; David Gregory (Bette Anne), Fort McLeod, AB; Fred Deakin (LaVerne), Fredericton; Brian Scott (Arlene), Abbottsford, BC; Sally Deakin Lunnie (Bill), Fredericton; George Gregory (Carol), Queenstown; Susan Scott Jones (Gary), Quispamsis; Stephen Scott (Linda), Bedford, NS, niece-in-law Jean Gregory of Forest Glen, NS as well as cousins, several grand, and great grand, nieces and nephew. Betty was predeceased by sisters Marjorie Deakin, Gertrude Gregory, Lois Scott, Margaret 'Miggy' Deakin, Charlotte 'Shot' Deakin, brother-Harry Deakin, Brothers-in-law Robert Gregory and Cecil Scott, nephews Robert Gregory and Peter Scott. There will be no visitation at the funeral home by request of the family. A service of remembrance will be held later in the spring at a date to be announced. Arrangements are under the direction of Brenan's Bay View Select Community Funeral Home (506-634-7425), 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John. Remembrances may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
