Obituary of Edward G. Mullen

Unexpectedly at his home, the death of Edward "Butch" Gordon Mullen of Grand Bay/Westfield, husband of 45 years of Joan (Oram) Mullen, occurred on Wednesday, January 24, 2007. Born in Sussex, NB, he was a son of the late Donald and Mary (Price) Mullen. Ed was employed with Irving Pulp and Paper as a welder for 33 years until his retirement. He enjoyed spending time with his family on the Belleisle, volunteered at the River Valley Rink and was known for his hockey stick art. He was member of the Irving Retirees, and an associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 69. Butch enjoyed fishing, hunting and motorcycling. Besides his wife he is survived by son, Donald (Terry Cyr) Mullen of Saint John; daughters, Kathy (David Palmer) Mullen of Saint John, and Krista (John Colwell) Mullen of Grand Bay/Westfield; step-father Wilfred Christie; sisters, Maxine (Reg) Hooton of Saint John, Betty Lynn (Duane) Henry of Rothesay; grandsons, Nickolas Mullen and Daniel Bond, several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by brothers, Ralph and Howard " Bud" Mullen. By request there will be no visiting. Following cremation a memorial service will be held on Monday, January 29, 2007 from Brenan's Bay View Select Community Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John, NB, (634-7425) at 12 Noon. Interment will take place at a later date. Remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
