Obituary of Doris Elaine Perkins

Perkins, Doris Elaine – It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Doris Elaine Perkins (Peterson), age 91, of Dipper Harbour, NB, on Friday, June 1, 2007 at the St. Joseph's Hospital, Saint John, NB. Born in Campbellton, NB, April 13, 1916, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Mary Elizabeth (LeBuffe) Peterson. Predeceased by her beloved husband, Charles Perkins (1980) and sons, Stanley and Wayne; three sisters and three brothers. In her younger years Doris had joined the convent of the Anglican Church, She later met Charles and married in 1939, sharing 40 wonderful and happy years together. Doris worked in the silver and china department of Manchester's store in Saint John for many years before retiring to raise her young granddaughter, Cindy. She was an active member of the Anglican Church throughout her life, especially Trinity Church in Maces Bay, NB. She was also a member of the King's Daughters, Fundy Bay Seniors Club and the ACWL. Doris was a devoted friend, loved her family and community. She maintained her independence in her home until age 90, with the love and support of her dearest friends and neighbours, among them: Ken & JoAnn, Micheline, Halcyon, Grace, Nancy, Eric and Beverly, who were all a big part of her life. She enjoyed her seaside home, walks on the beach and visits with her neighbours and family. She had a twinkle in her eye and laughed often. Doris was a lover of nature and animals and enjoyed being a caregiver to her friends many pets. Survived by her granddaughters: Cindy Carubia (Mike) of New Paltz, NY, Tammy and Lana Perkins and Michelle Hall, all three of Ontario; three great-grandchildren: Kersten, Dayna and Danny; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Perkins of Ontario; nieces: Marion Gillen (Saint John), Carolyn Frawley (Hampton ), Shirley McGovern (Nova Scotia), Sandra Buckley (Springfield); nephew, Bruce Peterson (BC); and many great nieces and great nephews. Resting at Brenan's Bay View Select Community Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John (506) 634-7425 with visiting on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Service will be held from Bay View Chapel on Thursday, June 7, 2007 at 11 am. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Canadian Diabetic Association or Trinity Church Maces Bay.
