Obituary of Stanley Frederick Watkins

The death of Stan Watkins of Anderson Drive, Saint John West occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on September 7, 2007. He was born in Winnipeg, MB on July 6, 1923 to the late F.F. Watkins and Mary Ann (Wood) Watkins. Stan worked for 27 years at Simms Brushes; from there he joined Pittfield, McKay and Ross as a stock broker in 1968. Subsequent to that he worked for Sumner Hardware and Emerson & Fisher until he retired in 1982. Stanley served overseas in World War II in Royal Canadian Air Force from December 1941 to October 1945 retiring as a Flight Lieutenant. At the time of his death he was serving as a director for Cedar Hill Cemetery Company. Stan is survived by his partner Joyce Dickie; one son David (Somboon) of Coquitlam, BC; two daughters: Moira Watkins of Saint John, NB and Jennifer Watkins of Calgary, AB and two grandchildren: Michael and Natalie Watkins. He was predeceased by his first wife, Lorna (Main) Watkins and brother Francis Watkins. At Stan's request there will be no visitation. An open memorial service will be held at Brenan's Bay View Chapel on Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at 2 pm. Interment in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or the charity of the donor's choice.
