Obituary of Donald E. M. Francis

The death of Donald "Donnie" Everett Milton Francis of Grand Bay-Westfield, husband of Mary (Barrowcliff) Francis, occurred unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 11, 2007 in Saint John. Born in Sussex, NB on April 27, 1954, he was the son of Shirley (Ashford) Francis of Public Landing and the late Murray Francis. Donnie was a Long Shoreman at the Port of Saint John for the past 36 years and was a proud member of the International Long Shoreman's Association Local #273. He was a lifelong resident of Grand Bay-Westfield and enjoyed spending summers at his camp in St. Andrews. Donnie loved baseball, hockey, the Public Landing Wharf and people watching. He will be sadly missed. Besides his loving wife and mother, he is survived by one son, Nathan Francis (Andrea), daughter Angela Francis and honorary daughter, Tara Broemeling, all of Saint John, three sisters, Florence Burgess (Pete) of Grand Bay-Westfield, Rose Marie May (Danny) of Hampton and Kelly Burns (Paul) of Blacks Harbour, brother-in-law, Everett Saunders of Welsford, several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one sister, Cheryl Saunders. Resting at Brenan's Bay View Select Community Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John West (634-7425) with visiting on Wednesday 7-9 PM and Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held at Brenan's Bay View Chapel on Friday, September 14, 2007 at 11:00 AM. Interment in Mount Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Marr, Paul Publow, Everett Saunders, Wayne Greer, Bobby Robertson and Ricky Nice. Remembrances to the charity of the donors' choice would be appreciated.
