Obituary of Norman Richard Allen

The death of Mr. Norman Richard Allen, husband of the late, Fernande Lamontagne, of Saint John, NB, occurred on Friday, November 23, 2007 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Tomifobia, Quebec, he was the son of the late, Eva Belle (Bachelor) and Richard William Allen. Mr. Allen was a Veteran of the Second World War, joining the RCAF in 1942. He served overseas with the 6th Group Bomber Command. He took discharge from the service in 1945. He was later employed with the Federal Civil Service as a Technical Inspector with the Department of National Defense until his retirement. Mr. Allen was a past member of the Carleton York Regimental Association; a long-time member of the Adanac Association, the Westfield Golf and Country Club, the Royal Canadian Legion - #2 Branch, and the RCAF Association - #250 Wing. He was also an avid sports fan. Mr. Allen is survived by his son, Patrick R. Allen (Faye) of West Saint John, three sisters; Marjorie Keeley of Lenoxville, PQ, Ruby Bonnell (Paul) of St. Lambert, PQ, and Barbara Clayton (James) of Aylmer, Ontario, one brother; Lawrence Allen of Lenoxville, PQ. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Brittney Kathleen and Mark Patrick Allen of West Saint John. Besides his wife, he is predeceased by his brother, Donald Allen. Resting at Brenan's Bay View Select Community Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John (506-634-7425), with visiting on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at 11:00 am from Brenan's Bay View Chapel. Interment to take place in Cedar Hill Extension. Remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of the donor's choice.
