Obituary of Marlene Iris Hector

Hector, Marlene I. - After a brief and painful battle with cancer, in the Palliative Care Unit at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Tuesday December 4th, 2007 surrounded by her loving family. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marlene (Alston) Hector. Marlene was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a true caring and compassionate person to all who knew her. Marlene will be sadly missed by her husband of forty eight years, Edward. Her two daughters Trudy (Brian Dykeman) of Grand Bay-Westfield, NB, Gail (Tim) Cormier of Musquash, NB and one son, Barry at home. Marlene doted on her three grandchildren, Stefanie and Curtis Dykeman, and Brittany Cormier who will miss her terribly. Also survived by her sister-in-law Jean Alston, nieces Lynn and Judy, several cousins. Marlene was predeceased by her parents George and Thelma (Knox) Alston, brother Holly and father-in-law, George Hector. Marlene was formerly employed with Arlene's House of Beauty and she was a member of Carleton Kirk United Church. Following cremation, visitation will take place at Brenan's "Bay View" Select Community Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John West, NB (506)634-7425, Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 PM. A Memorial Service will be held from Bay View Chapel on Friday at 2:15 PM. Rev. Len Mills officiating. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery.
