Obituary of Johannes D. Vriezen

Vriezen, Johannes D. (Dick) … The death of Dick Vriezen occurred peacefully on Sunday, December 9, 2007 at his residence. Dick was born in Groningen, the Netherlands, son of Pieter Johannes and Anna Cornelia Vriezen. Survived by his loving wife, Jacqueline (Matthews), son, Chris (Alexis), daughter Karen, and grandson, Alex. He was employed with New Brunswick Telephone Company for 22 years in operations and Management, and moved on with a second career as a contract instructor for NBCC, Saint John Shipbuilding, NB Power, the Province of New Brunswick and many others. Dick was a respected landlord in the City of Saint John and Town of St. Stephen. A passionate educator, historian and gardener, he will be in our hearts forever. A special Thank You to Nurse Cathy Kennedy and the staff of the New Brunswick Extra-Mural Program. At the family's request, there will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Brenan's Bay View Select Community Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John, (634-7425). Following cremation, a Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, December 12, 2007 from Brenan's Bay View Chapel at 2:15 pm. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Canadian Cancer Society, The Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation, Extra-Mural Program, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
