Obituary of J. Gerald Baxter

Baxter, James Gerald … The death of J. Gerald Baxter of Saint John West, NB, husband of Lois G. (Codner) Baxter, occurred on Saturday, July 5, 2008 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on September 20, 1937 he was a son of the late F. Addington and Vera E. (Tippett) Baxter. Gerald had been employed for 36 years with N.B. Telephone Co. retiring in 1991. He was an Internal Auditor for 23 years and enjoyed the research and investigative part of operations auditing. He enjoyed curling, golf and playing pool with the Fairville Oldtimers, but most of all he enjoyed his time spent at the "cottage" at New River Beach with his beloved wife and soul mate, Lois. They also enjoyed regular trips to Florida as well as many cruises and trips overseas. He was Past President of the Saint John Toastmasters Club, charter secretary of the New Brunswick Chapter of The Institute of Internal Auditors, the treasurer of the Carleton Curling Club for a number of years and a past member of the Westfield Golf and Country Club. Besides his wife, he is survived by two brothers, Joseph A. (Nancy) and W. Paul (Roberta Clark) of Rothesay; one sister, Carol E. Moore (Eugene Dugas) of Black's Harbour; and several nieces and nephews. Resting at Brenan's Bay View Select Community Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John (506) 634-7425. At Gerald's request there will not be any visiting at the funeral home. A Memorial Service will be held from Bay View Chapel on Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at 1:30 pm. Remembrances may be made to Saint John Vocational School Alumni Association Scholarship Fund or any charity of choice.
