Obituary of Everett McAllister

McAllister, Everett … The passing of Everett McAllister of Saint John, NB, husband of Melvina (Rutherford) McAllister, occurred on Sunday, October 19, 2008 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Saint John on November 30, 1940, he was the youngest son of the late Millard and Elizabeth (Campbell) McAllister. Following his retirement from the Department of Social Services, Everett enjoyed life at The Camp, hunting, reading, writing poetry and a good game of crib. Besides his wife of 45 years, Melvina; he is survived by one son, John (Leanne) of Brockton, MA; three daughters, Heather (Adam) Katz of Fall River, MA, Wendy McAllister of Brockton, MA and Emily (Stefan) Deters of Fort Worth, TX; seven grandchildren, Mathew & Sadie McAllister, Ally, Tom, Rob, Pat and Danny Katz and Baby "Plum" Deters (expected in January '09); two sisters-in-law, Marilyn and Audrey McAllister; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Lloyd and Bev. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan's Bay View Select Community Funeral Home,1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John (506) 634-7425. Visiting will be on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 from 2-6 pm with a Celebration of Everett's Life on Tuesday evening at 7 pm from Bay View Chapel. A private interment will be held later in Lorneville Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to Lorneville United Church, Thomas Woods Memorial Playground Fund or any charity of the donor's choice.
