Obituary of Harold Eugene Mallory

Mallory, Harold E. – It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Harold Eugene (Sonny) Mallory of Saint John West, husband of Jeanne (McLennan) Mallory, who passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, aged 78. Born at Saint John on May 21, 1930, he was the only son of the late Harold Lawrence and Marion Dorothy (Winchester) Mallory. He was formerly employed at the Saint John Dry Dock in the Drafting Department before joining Ports Canada. He was a founding member of the New Brunswick Society of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists, a member of the Carleton Curling Club, and was a member of the Royal Order of Wharf Rats, as well as a member of St. Mark's United Church and attended Grand Bay Baptist Church. Besides his wife of 53 years, Harold will be missed by his children, Gena Mallory (fiancé Stuart Osborne) of Grand Bay – Westfield, Cindy (Rob) Langan of Dartmouth, NS, Thane (Nancy) Mallory of Hatfield Point; and Melissa Mallory (husband Randy Archibald) of Timberlea, NS; three grandchildren, Tamara (Charlie) McLeod, Bryston (Mary) Turner and Justin Langan; one great grandchild, Tessa Turner; two sisters, Shirley (Robert) Damery of Bridgewater, NS and Elaine Laughlin of Saint John West; several step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many friends. Harold was predeceased by his brother-in-law, David Laughlin, and a niece, Hilary Laughlin. Resting at Brenan's Bay View Select Community Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John West (634-7425), with visiting on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 2:00 PM from Brenan's Bay View Chapel. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. Family flowers only, please; for those who wish, remembrances to the Crohns and Colitis Foundation, they Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, or any charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
