McAllister, Wendell Emerson … The death of Wendell Emerson McAllister of Lorneville, NB, husband of Shirley (Crawford) McAllister, occurred on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at his residence. Born in Lorneville, NB on July 20, 1929, he was a son of the late S. Emerson and Florence (Ferguson) McAllister. Wendell was best described as a seaman; he loved the sea and in his earlier years supported his family as a local fisherman, he joined the Department of Fisheries in later years and became interested and knowledgeable about salmon migration in the Saint John River. Prior to his retirement he had been employed with the Port of Saint John as a Checker. He was fond of music, enjoyed reading and sports, especially the Yankees. Besides Shirley, his wife of 57 years, he is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth (Vincent) Edgett of Lorneville; one grandson, William "Bill" (Dennica) Edgett; one brother, Marven (Eleanor) McAllister of Saint John; one sister, Pauline Duffy of Saint John; several nieces and nephews. Resting at Brenan's Bay View Select Community Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John (506) 634-7425 with visiting on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Service will be held from Bay View Chapel on Friday, February 27, 2009 at 2:00 pm. Interment will be in Lorneville Cemetery at a later date.
