Obituary of Bedford Doodson Watts

The passing of Ben Watts, husband of the late M. Isabel (Curry) Watts, formerly of Molson Avenue, occurred at the Bayview Care Home on Monday, May 18, 2009. He was born on September 20, 1918 at Saint John to the late James and Margaret (Hulme) Watts. Ben worked at Fred J. Watts Hardware retiring as the Manager. He was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd. Ben loved the country and spent much of his spare time at his farm in Bauld Hill, hunting fishing, gardening and tending his woodlot. He also enjoyed flea marketing and spending time with his family. His generous nature and willingness to help was a blessing to all who knew him. Ben is survived by two sons: David (Joan) and Bruce (Sue) both of Saint John; four grandsons: Gregory, Jonathan (Adèle), Jeffrey and Andrew and several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and parents, Ben was predeceased by five brothers: Fred, Reuben, Donald, Reginald and Walter and one sister, Margaret Conley. Resting at Brenan's Bay View Select Community Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John (634-7425), with visiting on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held form the Brenan's Bay View Chapel on Friday, May 22, 2009 at 11am. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish, remembrances to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Parkinson Society of would be appreciated by the family. The family invites everyone to a reception following the funeral service at the Bay View Reception Centre. A special thanks to Carol Jones and her staff of the Bayview Care Home in Kars, NB for their wonderful care and support of Ben during his past few years of failing health.
