Obituary of George Dixon

Dixon, George Albert … The death of George A. Dixon of Saint John, NB, husband of Dorothy Dixon, occurred on Sunday, June 28, 2009 at the Kennebec Manor. Born in Saint John on February 19, 1912, he was a son of the late Frederick W. and Bessie (Boon) Dixon. George had been a member of the Saint John Salvage Corp and Fire Police as Lieutenant and Secretary and was recipient of the 25 year award for volunteer service with the city of Saint John, for thirty years he had been a volunteer with the Junior Board of Trade, he volunteered for a number of years with Meals on Wheels, was a member of the Knights of Pythius and Gloosecamp Campers. He was an active member of The Church of the Good Shepherd. He is survived by three sons, Frederick (Dawn) Dixon of Saint John, Paul Dixon of Fredericton, NB and Peter (Barbara) Dixon of Quispamsis, NB; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, several nieces and nieces. He was predeceased by one brother, Hazen; three sisters, Gertrude Thompson, Vera Coombs and Myrtle Dean. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan's Bay View Select Community Funeral Home, 1461Manawagonish Rd., Saint John (506) 634-7425. At George's request there will not be any visiting. A Memorial Service will be held from Bay View Chapel on Thursday, July 2, 2009 at 2:00 pm. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Memorial Fund of the Church of the Good Shepherd or any charity of choice. www.bayviewfh.com
