Obituary of Norma May Shannon

The death of Norma May Shannon occurred on Tuesday February 10, 2004, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, NB, she was the wife of loving husband Murray Felix Shannon. Norma was involved in the Catholic Women's League, and spent most of her spare time knitting and crocheting. She is survived by seven children, three sons William(Bill)(Rita) of Saint John, NB, Roderick(Roddy)(Heather) and Michael(Lisa) of Westfield, NB, four daughters Brenda Reid(Brian) of Oromocto, NB, Marina Vandenberghe(Arthur) of Lepreau, NB, Deborah Johnson(Douglas), and Theresa Burgess(Donald) of Westfield, NB; four sisters, Eleanor Belyea of Rothesay, NB, Joan Wilson(Jim) of Halifax, NS, Nancy Nelson(Bill) of Saint John, NB, and Sandra Currie(Alvin) of Bayswater, NB; and sister in-law Connie Burley of Nauwigewauk, NB; 15 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents Oliver and Marion(Gillen) Burley of Saint John, NB; two brothers Glendon Burley of Saint John, NB and Harry Burley of Nauwigewauk, NB; brother in-law Earl Belyea of Rothesay, NB and grandson Joey Vandenberghe. Resting at Brenan's Bay View Select Community Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John, NB(506-634-7425), with visitation on Wednesday 7-9 PM and Thursday 2-4 and 7-9PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday February 13, 2004 at 10 AM from St. Augustine's Parish Grand Bay-Westfield. Interment will take place in the spring in St. Augustine's Cemetery, Grand Bay-Westfield. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick and the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
