Obituary of Daniel Hugh MacLellan

Daniel Hugh MacLellan of Saint John West, husband of the late Bertha Jean (Calhoun) MacLellan, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at St. Joseph's Hospital. Born at Parker Ridge, York County on April 28, 1920, he was a son of the late Herbert and Mary (Parker) MacLellan. Dan worked on the farm and as a forester in the Boiestown area for several years, moving to Saint John in 1963, where he was employed as a Certified Management Accountant for Norman Francis Ltd. and Rocca Enterprises. A faithful and long-time member of St. Mark's United Church, Dan served as Treasurer and Envelope Secretary for several years. He was an avid bowler and golfer, being a member of the Westfield Golf and Country Club. Dan is survived by his children, Gail Marie Pasha (Herb) of Halifax, NS, and Alex A. MacLellan (Trish) of Saint John; a sister, Erma O'Donnell of New Bandon; Dan was "Gug" to his grandchildren Michael Pasha, Shelley Pasha, Mark MacLellan, Melissa Cheraz, and Andrew MacLellan. He is also survived by 9 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Bertha, who predeceased him on July 23, 1989, Dan was also predeceased by a brother, Allan MacLellan, and a sister, Louise MacLellan. Resting at Brenan's Bay View Select Community Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John West (634-7425), with visiting on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Friday at 2:00 PM from St. Mark's United Church, 50 Dexter Drive, Saint John West. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery.
