Obituary of Donald Kendell Reid

Donald Kendell Reid of Lorneville, husband of Carole Lorraine (Wilson) Reid, passed away on Friday, December 18, 2009 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at Knoxford, Carleton County, he was a son of the late Harold and Lillian (Schriver) Reid. Don worked as a truck driver for Brunswick Ready Mix, and was a member of the Lorneville United Church. He was a Veteran of World War II, and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #69. He enjoyed a good game of cards almost every Friday night at the Lorneville Community Centre, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren who were the apple of his eye. In addition to his wife of 54 years, Don is survived by his children, Dale Reid (Cathy) of Ottawa, ON, Kevin Reid of Lorneville, Bonnie Watson (John) of Lorneville, Peter Reid (Beverly) of Nauwigewauk, Lori Verner (Gary) of Saint John, and Chris Galbraith (Stephen) of Lanark, ON; grandchildren Jason Watson, Jennifer van Horssen, Holly Richard, Derrick Galbraith, Daniel Galbraith, Kent Verner, Sonja Verner, Simon Reid, Julia Reid, Jessica Carr, and Sarah Carr; great grandchildren Rory Watson, Matthew Watson, Kylie Richard, Jaimie Richard, and Marcus van Horssen; his step-mother, Genevieve Wilson; siblings Wanda Rodney of Ontario, Sterling Reid (Jean) of Ontario, Douglas Reid (Avis)of Centreville, Delores Driscoll (Russell) of Lorneville, Eleanor Monaghan (Raymond) of Grand Bay, and Edith Reid of Saint John; special neighbours, Joy and Robin; and several nieces and nephews. Don was predeceased by brothers Bertram, Chester, and James Reid. In keeping with Don's wishes, all funeral services will be held privately. For those who wish, remembrances to the Lorneville United Church or to any charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family. The funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan's Bay View Select Community Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John West (634-7425).
