Obituary of Brian Russell

The sad and unexpected death of Brian Russell, husband of Frances H. (Parry) Russell occurred February 28, 2004 on board his ship the C/S Bold Endurance off the coast of Alaska, USA. Born in Stoke On Trent, England, he was the son of the late William S. and Doris (Daniels) Russell. The sea was Brian's life, he was 16 years old when he first set sail and continued for over 40 years. Brian was chief engineer aboard the ship C/S Bold Endurance at the time of his death and also worked for British Petroleum, Saf Marine, Kent Line, Algoma Marine and Secunda Marine. Brian loved to golf when at home, he was an active member of the Westfield Golf and Country Club. He was an energetic and enthusiastic walker, taking his little dog along with him. Brian also was a computer buff, who spent many enjoyable hours on the web. He was a family man and his sudden passing will be a great loss to his many family, friends and shipmates. Brian is survived by his wife Frances, one brother Alan Russell (Pamela), Burlington, Ont., one stepson David Rogers, St. Andrews, NB, two stepdaughters, Linda Robichaud (Brian), Long Reach, NB, Carol-Ann Duplessis (Gordon), Saint John, NB, four step grandchildren, David and Tracey Robichaud, Ryan Duplessis and Jeffery Rogers, three nieces Rosalind (Dan) Tomson, Helen (Hugh) Corbett and Catherine (Ross) McCullough. Brian is predeceased by his parents and one brother William Russell. Resting at Brenan's Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John, NB, (506-634-7425), with visitation at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 6, 2004, with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 PM, in the Chapel. Interment will take place at a later date. Remembrances to Brian in lieu of flowers may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, Hospice, or donors choice.
