Obituary of Wilena Gertrude Reicker

The death of Wilena Gertrude Reicker, wife of the late Robert M. Reicker occurred on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Vancouver, BC, she is the daughter of the late William and May (Spicer) McLellan. Wilena attended Modern Business College and after graduation was secretary for Jones Schofield Hathaway for a number of years. Wilena was a member of Centenary Queen Square United Church for over 70 years, she belonged to the UCW, Presbytery, taught Sunday School and was chairperson of many committees. Wilena was instrumental in organizing the door to door canvases for the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Canadian Cancer Society in the greater Saint John area. She was a member of the New Brunswick Museum, and the Historical Society. She attended Hillcrest Baptist Church and was a member of the Friendly Fellowship Group of Main Street Baptist Church. Wilena was very devoted to her family, she would never miss any occasion that was important to them. She loved to travel and took countless pictures on her adventures. She was a wonderful poet, who could come up at a moments notice with a lasting treasure. She will be truly missed by her family and many friends. Wilena is survived by two daughters Paula Ring , Saint John, NB, and Linda Slipp ( Donald), Grand Bay- Westfield, NB, one son Robert Dale Reicker (Blanka), Ottawa, Ont., seven grandchildren Gerd and Corey Reicker, Cindy Morgan (Blair), Cherie Mabey (Shane), Colin Ring (Lucie), Donna Hall (Jayme) and Lori Slipp, also 8 great grandchildren, a special niece Alberta Clowes, and several cousins, nephews and nieces. She is predeceased by her husband, sisters Emily Currie and Bernice Meyers, grandson Christopher Ring and son in law David Ring. Resting at Brenan's Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John, (634-7425). Visiting will begin on Saturday from 7-9 PM and Sunday 2-5 PM. Funeral service will be held in the Chapel at Bay View on Monday, March 15, 2004, at 11:00 AM, interment to follow in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. Remembrances to Wilena can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or donors choice.
