Obituary of Ethel Louise MacFarlane

The death of Ethel Louise MacFarlane of Nerepis Road, Grand Bay/Westfield, wife of Harold D. MacFarlane, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Saturday March 27, 2004. Born in Sackville, NB, she was the daughter of the late William Sherriff and Dorothy (Sherriff) Galbraith. Surviving besides her husband are her two sons Harold "Holly"(Margaret) MacFarlane of Grand Bay/Westfield and Wayne (Donna) MacFarlane of Halifax, NS; one daughter Valerie (Anthony) Parker of Fort McMurray, AB; two brothers William "Bill" and Wayne Sherriff; one sister Shirley Wilson; five grandchildren Tracey and Angela Parker, Michael, Andrew, and Daniel MacFarlane; and two great grandchildren Samantha and Alexis. Besides by her parents she was predeceased and her stepfather Winifred "Andy" Galbraith. Ethel worked as a receptionist for Dr. Donald Craig until her retirement in the late 1980's and belonged to St. James Anglican Church in Grand Bay/Westfield, active in the altar guild. She was a former member of the Westfield Volunteer Ambulance Service and served on the Westfield town council for years. In her spare time she enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the Westfield Golf and Country Club. Resting at Brenan's Select Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John, NB (506) 634-7425 with visitation on Monday 7-9 pm and Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held from Brenan's Bay View Chapel on Wednesday March 31, 2004 at 2 pm. Interment will take place at Lorneville Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of the donor's choice.
