Obituary of Ethel May Withey

Ethel May Withey (Abbott) of Welsford passed away peacefully in her sleep at the White Rapids Manor in Fredericton Junction on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at the age of 89. Born in Welsford in 1921, she was the daughter of the late Herbert William and Laura May (Jones) Abbott. Ethel was an active life member of the Welsford United Church, and a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She especially loved quilting, gardening, playing bridge, and having her family together. Ethel is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, E. George Withey; two daughters, Karen Mooney (Gerald) of Wirral, and Kathy Tidswell (John) of Burtt's Corner; grandchildren Alana Simpson (Greg), Jerry Mooney (Stephanie), Lisa Tidswell, Tristan Tidswell; great grandchildren Brandon Simpson and Josh Simpson; a brother, Arthur Abbott (Joan) of Halifax; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Ethel was predeceased by sisters Dorothy Abbott and Evelyn Henderson. The family would like to thank the staff at White Rapids Manor for their care and attention during the last few months. Resting at Brenan's Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John West, with visiting on Thursday, December 30, 2010 from 2-8 PM. The funeral service will be held on Friday, December 31, 2010 at 1:00 PM from the Welsford United Church. Interment will take place in the Welsford Valley Cemetery.  For those who wish, remembrances to the Welsford United Church, the Welsford Valley Cemetery, or the White Rapids Manor Minibus Fund would be appreciated by the family.  Â
