Obituary of George Ernest Wood

After a long battle with cancer, George Ernest Wood passed away on January 29, 2011 in Palliative Care at the Saint John Regional Hospital at the age of 68. George worked with Canada Post in Saint John for 29 years. Born November 10, 1942 in Saint John; he was the son of Ann Marie (McAfee) Hargrove (George) of Sussex and the late Frank Wood.  George is survived by his loving wife Janet (Carpenter) Wood of 44 years; his wonderful children Stephen (Avanda) Wood and Danny (Lana) Wood; his three terrific and loving granddaughters: Victoria, Sydney and Melanie, who he loved to tease! all of Browns Flat; one sister, Elizabeth O'Blenis (Jim) of Ontario; one uncle, George McAfee (Valerie) of Quispamsis and mother in-law, Doris Carpenter of Quispamsis; two nieces and cousins.  On request of George and family there will be no visiting. The Funeral Service will be held from Wesley United Church, Brown's Flat on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at 2 PM. Greenwich Recreation Center will do refreshments after the service. Interment will be held in the Wesley United Church Cemetery at a later date.  Arrangements are under the care of Brenan's Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John (634-7425). For those who wish, remembrances to Wesley United Church Cemetery, Shriner's Hospital for Children (Luxor Temple) or a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
