Obituary of Alma Foster Hoben

Alma Foster Hoben of Saint John, wife of the late Reuben H. Hoben, passed away on Monday, May 23, 2011 at Rocmaura Nursing Home. Born in Maugerville, NB on July 24, 1917, she was the daughter of the late John "Jack" and Alma (Ducey) Campbell. Alma enjoyed playing the piano and flower gardening, and was an excellent cook. She had a fondness for cats, and was a member of St. Luke's Anglican Church, where she also served with the Anglican Church Women. Alma is survived by her children, Merle Hoben (Jane) of Saint John, Floyd Hoben (Ann) of Saint John, Valerie Medford (Chris) of Public Landing, and Lenta Hoben of Saint John; grandchildren Pam and Sterling Hoben, Merle Hoben and Tammy Seeley, and Michael and Michelle Gray; great grandchildren Madeline, Mitchell, Dominique, Aiden, Shelby, Douglas, Sidney, Ashley, and Jacob; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Alma was predeceased by two sisters, Hazel Harvey and Anne Abbott. Resting at Brenan's Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John West (634-7425), with visiting on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at 2:00 PM from Brenan's Bay View Chapel. Interment will take place in St. John's Anglican Cemetery, Gagetown. For those who wish, remembrances to any charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
