Obituary of Evelyn Jean Haines

The death of Evie Haines, wife of the late Eugene Haines, occurred at the St. John and St. Stephen Nursing Home on Thursday, August 4, 2011. She was born on July 2, 1922 at Saint John to the late Wellington and Willa (Wood) Green. Evie was a caring and supportive wife and mother. After her children were older she worked at K-Mart for over 20 years. She was a former member of Portland United Church. She is survived by five children: Peter (Marianne) of Saint John, Susan Stone (Donald) of Ontario, David (Kim) of Saint John, Gordon (Paulette) of Hampton and Barry of Saint John; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Evie was predeceased by her husband; parents; three children: Glen, Brian and Sandra; great-granddaughter, Evie and nine brothers and sisters. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Resting at Brenan's Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John (634-7425) with visiting on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held from Brenan's Bay View Chapel on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at 11 AM. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery.
