Obituary of Andrew Francis Hughes

It is with extreme sadness that the family of Andrew Francis "Andy" Hughes of South Bay, husband of Carol L. (Armstrong) Hughes, announces his death by accident on Saturday, April 7, 2012. Born in Saint John, Andy was a son of Francis "Fran" and Mary Jean (Roberts) Hughes, and was a life long resident of Saint John, having been educated in local schools. Andy and Carol owned and operated Pet Corral on Fairville Boulevard in Saint John and Pettingill Road in Quispamsis. Andy was an avid sportsman and particularly loved boating and water sports. His greatest joy was being a devoted father and active participant in all his daughters' activities. Santa will miss his Number One helper on his annual voyage through Reversing Falls at Christmas. In addition to his wife and to his parents, Andy is survived by two daughters, Emily and Samantha, both at home; two brothers, Philip Hughes (Liane Macfarlane) of Fredericton and Eric Hughes (Belinda) of Saint John; a sister, Mary Ellen Hughes (Ed Dupuis) of Salt Springs; nieces and nephews Kristofor, Shelby, Seth, Jeremy, Nicola, Brooke, and Mitchell; and a grand nephew, Adam. Resting at Brenan's Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John West (634-7425), with visiting on Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Friday, April 13, 2012 at 2:00 PM from St. Mark's United Church, 50 Dexter Drive. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the SPCA-Animal Rescue or to any charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family. Please place online condolences and remembrances at www.BrenansFH.com.
