Obituary of Barbara Helen Stewart

It is with heartfelt sadness the family announces the passing of Barbara Stewart, 77, of the Kingston Peninsula on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. She passed peacefully surrounded by her loved ones. Born in Saint John, Barbara was the daughter of the late James and Elizabeth (Kerr) McLaughlin. Graduating from Rothesay High School, she then attended St. Joseph's School of Nursing. Barb was a nurse for several years at St. Joseph's Hospital. Barb’s smiling face could be seen every Saturday for many years at the Kingston Famers Market and was instrumental in fundraising for St. Bridget's Church. But most of all her passion was spending time with her loving family. Barbara is survived by her beloved three girls, Beth Fullerton (Kevin), and Mary McFarlane (Larry), both of Long Reach, and Lisa Lee (Ken) of Banff, AB. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren, Tony (Tracey), Jeff (Jayne), and Jill Fullerton (Josh), and Ryan Lee, great granddaughter, Claire Fullerton, as well as several nieces and nephews. Barbara was predeceased by the love of her life Donald Stewart, and brother William McLaughlin. We wish to acknowledge her Shannex family for all their wonderful care and love. Thank you for making our Mom feel so special in her new home. And most recent, to the staff on 3D South at the Saint John Regional Hospital for your kindness, compassion and support during this difficult time. Resting at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119) with visiting on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Bridget's Catholic Church, Chapel Grove, on Monday, July 11, 2016 at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place in the adjoining cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to St. Bridget's Building Fund or to the Parkinson's Society, would be appreciated.
