Obituary of Mark Derek Meier

Surrounded by his loving family, Mark Derek Meier, of Quispamsis, husband of Pam (Disher) Meier, passed away on Friday July 8, 2016 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on October 31, 1955, he was a son of the late Bert and Peggy (Vallis) Meier. Mark had a proud and long career with Bell Aliant in I & R, then as a lineman and splicer. An avid reader, Mark loved to fish in his earlier years and enjoyed many summers camping with family at Oak Point. Besides his wife, he is survived by his children; Matthew Meier (Shannon Hodder), Megan Meier (Jody Patterson), Maggie Meier (Steven Tober), grandfather to Lucas and Lily Meier, honourary grandfather to Ewan Patterson, Hayden and Lily Tober, brother, Paul Meier, sister, Pamela Howes-Siekierski, as well as many nieces and nephews. Thank you to Dr. Adams in the emergency Department, Dr. Tutschka, ICU, Dr. Comeau, Oncology, RN Colleen Smith, Palliative Care and the nurses in all the departments for Mark's comfort and care. At Mark's request there will be no funeral service. A private ceremony to celebrate his life was held at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119). For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
