Obituary of Edward J. OBrien

The death of Edward J. O'Brien of 38 Old Coach Rd., Quispamsis, husband of M. Patricia McNamee-O'Brien, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Tuesday, January 11, 2005, after a courageous battle with cancer. Mr. O'Brien was born in Saint John, a son of the late Edward and Hazel (Dugay) O'Brien. He had been a detective with the Saint John Police Force until his retirement in 1993 and was a member of the City of Saint John Retirees Association. He enjoyed ice-fishing and trailoring at the Mic Mac at Cambridge-Narrows. Besides his wife, he is survived by one son Kevin of Saint John; one daughter, Marion Coyle (Paul) of Quispamsis; two step-sons, Jeffrey Carr (Wendy) of Rothesay, and Robert Carr (Tammy) of Willow Grove; one step-daughter, Leigh Carr (Steve Campbell) of Grand Bay; two brothers, Patrick (Geraldine) of Trenton, Ont., and Francis (Sharon) of Golden Grove; three sisters, Judy Albert (Larry) of Saint John, Marie Gionet (Gerry) of Kingston, Ont., and Doreen O'Leary (Alban) of Saint John; 13 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Rothesay, on Friday morning at twelve o'clock. Interment will take place in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Golden Grove. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
