Obituary of Herbert F. Maguire

The death of Herbert F. Maguire of 427 Bradley Lake Rd., husband of Evangeline (Toner-Hunter) Maguire, occurred unexpectedly at his residence on Monday, January 24, 2005. Mr. Maguire was born at Golden Grove, a son of the late Stephen and Marcella (O'Brien) Maguire. He had been employed as a longshoreman and with the Works Dept. of the City of Saint John until his retirement a number of years ago. He had served with the Royal Canadian Army during the Second World War. Besides his wife, he is survived by five sons, Vernon of Salisbury, Kevin of Saint John, Herbert of Ottawa, Stephen of Moncton, and James of Toronto; six daughters, Doreen Logan, Darlene (Derrick) Hutchings, Lorraine (Ernest) Chiasson, Brenda Maguire, Shirley (Wayne) Crouse, and Kathleen (Fernand) Vautour, all of Saint John; one sister, Helen (Thomas) Lenihan of Saint John; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Tuesday from 7 to 9 and on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Thursday morning at ten o'clock. Entombment will take place in Fernhill Vault with burial in St. Patrick's Cemetery in the spring.
