Obituary of James H. Evans

The death of James H. Evans, husband of G. Bernice 'Beecie' (Fisher) Evans occurred at Ridgewood Veterans' Wing on Friday, February 11, 2005. Mr. Evans was born in Saint John, a son of the late William and Bertha (Sweeney) Evans. He served overseas with the Royal Canadian Army 4th Division R.C.M.Q.C. and was a member of Portland Branch Royal Canadian Legion. Following the war he was employed as parts manager with Battery & Electric for 45 years and then served as a member of the Corp of Commissionaires. He was a former member of St. Peter's Choir and the Millidgeville Seniors Club, and an Honourary Life Member of Knights of Columbus Council 937. He was pre-deceased by five brothers, George, Charles, John, Leo, and Donald; and three sisters, Madeline Berry, Zita Bowes, and Dorothy Hebert. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Hugh and Peter, both of Saint John; two daughters, Marianna (James Crocker), and Cynthia, both of Saint John; one sister, Catherine Creary of Saint John; three grandchildren, Zeba, Chloe, and Isobel; and several nieces and nephews. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter's Church on Monday morning at ten o'clock. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion will conduct a Memorial Service on Saturday evening at seven o'clock. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Parkinson Foundation or the Mental Health Association would be appreciated.
