Obituary of M. Carmelita McIntyre

McIntyre, Margaret Carmelita – It is with appreciation for a life well-lived that the family of M. Carmelita “Carm” McIntyre announces her passing, which occurred on Friday, August 18, 2017 at her residence surrounded by those she loved at the age of 101. She was the beloved wife of the late Leonard W. McIntyre who passed away in 1994. Born in Saint John on July 16, 1916, she was a daughter of the late Thomas A. and M. Estella (McCluskey) McGrath. Carm was a graduate of St. Vincent’s Girls High School and Mount Carmel Academy. She spent most of her life making a home for her husband and their six children. After raising her family, she worked as a Ward Clerk at the Saint John Regional Hospital in Family Medicine. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and the CWL. She will be missed by her children: Michael McIntyre, Suzanne Maines (the late Ian), Jane O’Connell (David), Cpt. William McIntyre (Gail), Anne McIntyre and Philip McIntyre (Janet); grandchildren, Dr. John (Laura), Timothy (Margot), Christopher and Heather; great grandchildren, Brigid and Henry; a sister-in-law, Gloria McGrath and a cousin, Anne Marie McGrath; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Carm was predeceased by her sister Beatrice Howard and her brother Bernard McGrath. The family wishes to thank the management and staff of Senior Watch, Bayshore Home Health and the nursing staff of Extra Mural for their devoted care of our mother. Resting at Fitzpatrick’s Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo Street, Saint John (634-1965) with visiting on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 from 6-8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday August 23, 2017, at 12:10 pm from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Virgin’s Chapel, 91 Waterloo Street, Saint John. Interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Romero House.
