Obituary of Katherine E. Harkins

HARKINS-the death of Katherine E. Harkins, widow of William J. Harkins, occurred at the Turnbull Home on Monday, March 28, 2005, in her 108th year. Mrs. Harkins was born at White's Cove, N.B., a daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Orchard) Kelley. She had resided in Dipper Harbour from 1939 until moving to Saint John in 1948, where she had been employed as a practical nurse until her retirement a number of years ago. She had been a member of the Cathedral Parish for many years. She was pre-deceased by four brothers, Roderick, John C. 'Jack', Thomas E., and Alfred Kelley; and three sisters, Lucretia and Susan Kelly, and Clara Boyle. She is survived by one son, William Harkins (Joann) of Saint john; one granddaughter, Tracy K. Harkins of Saint John; and several nieces and nephews. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Pius X Church on Wednesday morning at eleven o'clock. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated. The family would like to offer thanks to the staff of the Turnbull Home for the special care given to Katherine.
