Obituary of Dominique Gionet

The death of Dominique (Dick) Gionet of 411 Ellerdale St. occurred at St. Joseph's Hospital on Tuesday, August 23, 2005. Mr. Gionet was born in Bas Caraquet, a son of the late Cesaire and Francoise (Albert) Gionet, and had resided the greater part of his life in Saint John. He had served overseas with the Carleton and York Regiment during the Second World War and was a member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 53. He was a Life Member of the 30 Up Club and an Honourary Life Member of Council 937 Knights of Columbus. He was pre-deceased by five brothers, Omer, Albert, Patrick, Denis, and Edouard Gionet; and two sisters, Rita Gionet and Lauza Peters. He is survived by two brothers, Dolor Gionet (May) and Medar Gionet (Beverly), both of Saint John; one sister, Frances Cormier (Joseph) of Saint John; and several nieces and nephews. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francois de Sales Church on Friday morning at ten o'clock. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion will hold a Memorial Service on Thursday evening at seven o'clock.
